of all sizes, from SMEs to Corporate Enterprises. We work with experienced and trusted partners to provide advanced storage
solutions that are appropriate to your business.
Storage solutions typically fall into the following catgories:
Direct Access Storage (DAS)
Direct Attached storage is a basic level storage in which the host computer holds
the storage devices or these can be connected to one server at a time. Networked workstations can access the data only through
the host. DAS was the first storage model that gained widespread acceptance and is widely used. Even though networked storage
models are gaining popularity, DAS still finds takers because it is easy to deploy and has a low initial cost of deployment.
It helps if you have an idea of what your data availability needs are at present and what they will be in the future.
Network Attached Storage (NAS)
Network Attached Storage is a hard disk storage system - including RAID configuration,
with its own LAN IP address rather than being attached to the department computer that is serving applications to a network's
workstation users. It has it's own software for configuring and mapping file locations to the network attached devices. A
NAS can be included as part of a more comprehensive solution like SAN.
As these devices have an IP address they can be accessed directly rather than through
an intermediary.
In a NAS because the storage resides separate to the server applications files are
served faster as they aren't competing for the same resources.
Storage Attached Networks (SAN)
A SAN is a dedicated network that is separate from LANs and WANs. It is generally
used to connect all the storage resources connected to various servers. It consists of a collection of SAN Hardware and SAN
software; the hardware typically has high inter-connection rates between the various storage devices and the software manages,
monitors and configures the SAN.
Having the right storage solution means you can relax and concentrate on doing what you know best; running your
business.
